Tucked away in the Fenlands and its waterways near the village of Thorney just outside Peterborough, you’ll find our iconic gastropub, Dog in a Doublet, owned by John & Della McGinn.
With a heritage stretching back to the 18th century, our rural gastropub with rooms and the Smoke and Embers restaurant sits as the heart of the local community, nestled amongst one acre of grounds with a small petting farm and decked swimming pool area. Offering a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, with both casual and formal dining areas. A large outside terrace, private dining lodges which can seat up to 12 guests and 11 bedrooms including one private Log cabin.
Whether it is a light continental breakfast or a more substantial “full English”, we prepare what our hotel guests want. During the day if you like a light lunch at the bar or a pizza on our terrace, our kitchen is on hand with award winning dishes.
Our much loved Smoke & Embers restaurant produce everything from small plate tapas style at the bar or on the terrace to carefully sourced steaks, fresh fish and seafood. The restaurant offer a daily specials board, as well as seasonal Chef’s Tasting Menus and, if you need to arrange a private dining event, just let us know. We look forward to seeing you soon.
